May Manalo received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and Spanish from Drew University, and her Master of Education Degree in Professional Counseling from William Paterson University. May is a licensed counselor practicing in Charleston, SC as well as a Nationally Certified Counselor. May also holds licenses for school counseling in both South Carolina and New Jersey.
May has previously worked with children and adolescents in a residential setting, focusing on behavioral modification, trauma work, severe anxiety, depression, suicidality and crisis intervention.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy Post Masters Training Fellowship
August 2020 - July 2021
CDBTA’s fellowship program combines intensive training, mentorship, peer consultation and hands-on clinical work. The program is designed to enhance clinical competencies in DBT treatment and prepares clinicians for national certification. CDBTA fellows learn from specialists in the field by participating in DBT consultation team, mentorship discussions, learning activities and individual supervision. Fellows apply their learning by co- facilitating DBT Skills Training Groups and providing therapy to a small number of clients.
Introduction to DBT

This training provides clinicians with advanced knowledge and application of components of DBT including: how to structure therapeutic sections, the theoretical underpinnings of DBT, how DBT strategies based on distress tolerance and mindfulness skills can be utilized to decrease emotional suffering associated with disorders such as bipolar, depression, BPD, and anxiety.
